The first two weeks of school flew by as students got to know their classmates and we set up rules and routines that we will follow all year. The class worked very hard on "Read All About Me" posters in writing and we have been enjoying starting our day with our Number Corner math warm ups every morning.
On Thursday, I welcomed many parents into our room and we discussed important things that will happen in fifth grade this year. You can access the open house PowerPoint by clicking here.
One exciting thing we discussed was a special guest that will be visiting the LIS fifth graders each week. The guest is Michael Moschen, and the fifth grade teachers had the pleasure of sitting down with him on Friday to begin planning his visits. Michael Moschen is a performing artist who will be opening students' minds to mathematical and scientific concepts through hands-on activities. Last year he worked with fifth graders in Torrington and we are very excited that he will be working with us this year!
